The Importance of Keeping Your Pool Clean
Standing pools of water are breeding grounds for bugs, algae, mildew, mold and bacteria. Defending against all these threats requires:
- Running water - provided by a dependable and consistent water pump system.
- Properly balanced chemical solutions - chlorine and pH levels checked and stabilized on a regular basis to prevent under or over correction due to evaporation, excess rainwater, and changes in use.
- Filtration - not only do clean filters prevent large particles from entering the pump system, but clear filters keep the water exchange going at the proper speed and rate.
- Backwashing - filtration systems need to be cleared to ensure high quality water.
- Skimming - filtration systems can only deal with particles below the surface, surface debris not only looks bad, it provides breeding locations for insects.
- Vaccuming - again, filters can only clean what comes to them. Heavy particles settle on the bottom, making the pool unsightly, uncomfortable and potentially a spot for algae or insects to locate and breed.
- Wall brushing - algae and other growths will adhere to surfaces, and can be out of control before you notice them. preventive wall brushing prevents colonies from establishing in the first place.
- Equipment maintenance - pool equipment is subject to water intrusion, high heat, and daily wear and tear. Preventing a problem with regular equipment checks can save big dollars in the long run.
